Challenge SD is the first Polish social portal that focuses on issues of sustainable development. Its main goal is to create a platform where the users can exchange information, generate knowledge and work together on solving specific problems. The aspiration of the creators of this portal is to ensure its continuing improvement in response to users’ needs and expectations. You are invited to share with us your ideas, observations and suggestions which will help us make Challenge SD better and better.
The name of the portal, ChallengeSD.eu, comes from the educational project called ‘Challenges of Sustainable Development in Poland’. The project has been carried out for over twelve years. More than 300 people have completed a summer ‘Challenges of sustainable development in Poland’ course organized by Sendzimir Foundation. These people promote in their private and business life the principles of sustainable development in local communities and also in academic and business environment. The whole project covers among others:
* Yearly, three-week, intensive ‘Challenges of sustainable development in Poland’ for interdisciplinary, international groups of students.
* Publishing of a book ‘Challenges of sustainable development in Poland’, which is a perfect resource for summer school participants, teachers, lecturers and coaches
* Publishing a periodic publication ‘Adaptation of sustainable development in Poland’ covering an issue of implementation of principles of sustainable development. The aim of this publication is presentation of the results of the projects carried out by the summer school and presentation of good examples from Europe and the rest of the world. The publication consists of two sections: Business and Local communities.
* Creating series of internet educational games called ‘Microworlds of Sustainable Development’, organizing a yearly Small Gratns Contest which allows to carry out significant projects supporting sustainable development in Poland (the nearest final due in Autumn).
* Series of workshops in local communities of Zawoja and Karpacz communes. The workshops aim in finding a solution for water and wastewater management problems in these areas.
